What is a Good News Club?
|
Good News Club is a FREE weekly, action-packed program where children ages 5-12 can hear
Bible lessons, missionary stories, learn memory verses, play games, eat snacks, and sing fun action songs. Taught by
trained teachers who have been thoroughly screened, each Good News Club takes place in either day cares, community centers,
neighborhood homes, and even as after-school programs in local public elementary schools. The materials used in each
club come from http://cefpress.com and a presentation of the Gospel is given during each Bible Lesson.
The purpose of the Good News Club program is the same as all other CEF Ministries: namely,
to evangelize boys and girls with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and establish (disciple) them in the Word of God and
in a local church for Christian living.
|
Can you REALLY teach the Bible in a Public School?
|
YES! In 2001, the Supreme Court ruled in GNC v. Milford Central School that Good News
Clubs CAN meet in public schools in the United States after school hours on the same terms as other community groups.
This is an exciting opportunity that we have in our city to share the Gospel with the children
in public elementary schools through the Good News Club program.
This is a window of opportunity: we don't know how long we will be able to openly share the
Gospel within the Public Schools, so that is why it is our goal to establish a Good News Club in every public elementary school
in our district.

Who teaches the Good News Clubs?
|
Each Good News Club is taught by trained volunteers who have been thoroughly screened and
checked according to CEF's National Child Protection Policy process.
For the after-school Good News Club program, a church takes responsibility for a local school
by "Adopting" that school. That means that the church provides the volunteers for the school and CEF trains those volunteers,
who will teach the club under the supervision of CEF. The church can choose to conduct the GNC in the school for anywhere
from six weeks (minimum) to a full school year.
If your church would be interested in adopting a local elementary school, contact Frances

Please continue to pray daily for this ministry. We encourage you to pray through the
list of schools that do not currently have a Good News Club program, asking God to provide churches and volunteers so we can
continue towards our goal to be in every public elementary school in Lexington, Richland, Newberry, Fairfield, and Aiken counties!
Consider giving a donation to the ministry. Your gifts go towards helping to establish
Good News Clubs not only in the community, but in the Public Schools as well! Visit Donate to CEF page and pray towards giving a donation to the ministry of CEF Columbia-Midlands.
