How God uses ordinary youth in extraordinary ways
What
is Christian Youth In Action?
Christian Youth In Action (CYIA) is a summer
program for youth ages 14 through college age who love the Lord and enjoy working with children! As a summer missionary,
you would be trained at Columbia International University for one week during the month of June, followed by 3-5 weeks of
ministry within the local community, conducting 5 Day Bible Clubs in day care centers, community centers, neighborhoods,
churches, and parks.
You will learn how to share the Gospel with a
child, and how to lead a child to Christ, as well as how to teach Bible Lessons, Missionary Stories, and Memory Verses to
children! You will have a blast as you get to know other youth within your community, so don't miss out on this awesome
opportunity to serve as a summer missionary next summer!

2009 Summer Update!!
During the summer of 2009, 28 High School and College students were accepted to be Christian Youth In Action Summer Missionaries
with the Columbia-Midlands District.
During the week of June 13th-20th, each student went to CIU for training and learned how to teach effective Bible Lessons,
memory verses, missionary stories, and how to conduct an exciting 5 Day Bible Club!!
Returning (2nd Year) students took a rigorous 30 hour course called, "Teaching Children Effectively" (TCE) where
they attended advanced Bible Lesson teaching classes. 3rd and 4th Year students participated in the Leadership program (taught
by several CIU professors) and learned how to be effective leaders and examples to the children as well as to their peers.
Following the training, the summer missionaries went out into the local community during the summer and taught 3 clubs
per day, 5 days per week, for 5 weeks. They went to day cares, churches, neighborhood homes, apartment complexes, recreation
centers, YMCA's, Boys and Girls clubs, and many other locations to share the Gospel with children ages 5-12.
Several of the students also conducted a camp at our office location, called Camp Good News. This two week children's
camp included games and sports, crafts, and Bible stories for children in local neighborhoods.
As the summer ended on July 31st, the CYIAers had reached around 1,800 children in 75 different locations, and 285 of
those children prayed to receive Christ!
