Christian Youth in Action is a summer ministry program designed for high school and college-aged young people. In 2008 we had seven teenage missionaries serving in the Florence Area. After a week of intense training at Columbia International University, they spent the next 6 weeks ministering to the children in Timmonsville and Florence. Under the leadership of Kimberly Bonnett, CEF summer intern, these teenage teachers held clubs in neighborhoods, churches, day care centers, and boys and girls clubs in the area. This summer the missionaries reached 350 children during sixteen 5-day clubs and one open air event. During this exciting time, 24 children made the decision to receive Christ! Not only did this program make a difference in the lives of the children in the area, but it also made a difference in the lives of the teenagers. They learned to work together as a team and to trust in God for the important job that they were all called to do. Each of the teenagers worked hard and gave up most of their summer vacation to reach these precious children in our area. They all ended their summer ministry, exhausted and excited; looking forward to next year.
