Challenge your friends
How to challenge your friends to missions.
Pray.
Be sincere asking God to help you encourage other friends who are believers to obey God's calling to "Go into all the world to share the Gospel..."  Ask Him for boldness to share and open hearts for your friends to hear what you have to say.  Pray for opportunities and most of all pray for God's Will to be done.  Even though there is a contest at stake here, your highest priority should be honoring God.

Make a list.
Prayerfully ask God to reveal friends He would like you to talk to about joining Christian Youth In Action.  Make a list of everyone that you know, go to class with, live near, and go to church with.  Don't be so quick to mark names off, remember, pray first.  Then carefully mark names off that are not Christians or are still very new to a relationship with God.  Be careful though.  God may ask you to speak with someone who you would think, "No way!"  It may be God's way of speaking to them about something else.

Look for opportunities.
Talking to your friends at the premiere opening of the latest movie may not be the best time to ask them about becoming a summer missionary.  Choose your timing and look for openings to share.  Always be on the look out.  You never know when God may be speaking to their heart but they aren't giving away any clues.  When the time is right, as you are listening to God, He will show you.

Use a variety of ways to share.
There are lots and lots of ways to communicate with your friends today. Personal conversations, IM, email, MySpace, Facebook, text messaging, phone calls, letters, notes, and the list keeps on going.  Don't just stick with one method to share - go CRAZY!  Use them all.  Place ads on your Facebook and MySpace, make little notes and pass them alone, share the website address www.showmetheACTION.com, and more.  There are alot of different friends out there that respond to a lot of different things in different ways.  Using lots of methods increase your chances of really talking with them about becoming a summer missionary.

Tell your story.
Okay.  You finally have someone who is interested in this summer missions thing you keep talking about.  What do you do now? If you have been in the Christian Youth In Action program before tell your story of serving.  What was it was like to sign up, go through the training, and actually share the Gospel with little children?  If you haven't been through the program yet but you've applied, tell what lead you to the decision to apply.  Was it a verse from God's Word, a message at church, a friend who told you?  Sharing your experience is one of the greatest ways for others to become interested in serving.

Pray more.
Pray? Again?  Yep.  After you've made your list, looked for opportunities, shared your story, now it's time to talk to God - again.  Tell Him your experience and ask for His Will to be done in the life of your friend who listened to you.  Thank Him for the opportunity to share and the boldness to even open your mouth.  Continue to pray until something happens - whether your friend chooses to serve or is led to follow some other path.
