In 2010, Child Evangelism Fellowship launched a new arm of ministry called "Sacks of Snacks."
The purpose of this program is to provide small bags of healthy snacks for children who have little or no access
to
food over the weekends. There are children right here in our community that are hungry. They receive free
breakfast
and lunch at school during the week but may not have any food at home on the weekend. Some schools
currently have
backpack programs in place to meet this need but the coverage is spotty at best. We determined
that the best place
to start was Spartanburg District 7 since the need is great and there is no backpack program
in place. During the
November 2010 - March 2011 we were able to donate approximately 2,200 "Sacks of Snacks"
to Spartanburg
District 7. These have been distributed to children at Cleveland Elementary. The school determines
which
children are the most in need and teachers discreetly place them in the selected children's backpacks
on Fridays.
