Why Evangelize Children?Less people are attending church. Statistics show that less than a quarter of Americans attend church regularly. For children, even less attend because they have no transportation. With over 875,000 children under the age of 14 in the state of South Carolina alone, we can see there is a massive harvest field awaiting us!*
Only one in five children attend church on a regular basis. This is critical because what a child believes by age 13 is likely what they will die believing.** |
It's the desire of Jesus. In Matthew 18:14, He said, "So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish."

The Vision & Mission
Our vision is to reach every child, in every nation, every day. CEF is the largest children's ministry in the world, spanning the globe into every country but one.
The mission is supporting the Church. We accomplish this by training, equipping, and supporting followers of Christ in the local church. This benefits the individual, the local church's mission, and families within community.

Our History
OVer 70 Years In South CarolinA
In the early 40s, Miss Emma Mackey, a Greenville native and recent graduate of Columbia Bible College heard about a new ministry movement spreading across the United States called Child Evangelism. After reading a sermon pamphlet by founder J. Irvin Overholtzer (Mr. O), her heart was ignited. She soon discovered that North Carolina had a chapter and with her parents blessing she went to serve as a secretary. Her tender heart was burdened for the children of her home state in South Carolina. With passion in her voice she called her father to ask for his support of her returning home to begin the movement here. Soon after returning home, Miss Emma began making appeals in the Greenville newspaper and making contacts with anyone who would listen.
The Word of GOD shared by Mr. O was the seed that found good soil within the heart of Miss Emma. Her obedience to the SPIRIT's call launched a movement in South Carolina that has spanned 70 years, thousands of volunteers, and untold numbers of children hearing the life-changing message of the Gospel of JESUS. Praise GOD for all those obedient souls who have served the children of South Carolina. And, praise GOD for all the children who have come to know HIM through their message.
